We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful what we pretend to be...

( I guess I'd better pretend to be interesting...)

La Reine Misère
Goth, female, French-speaker...in case you couldn't figure those things out from the user-name. Slightly less 'über' than the user-name might lead one to expect.

Former language teacher, theatre usherette, data entry drone, civil servant/local government officer/third sector equivalent. Currently working as a freelance translator/committee clerk/other occasional random stuff, although I suspect I will go back into 'normal' employment sooner or later.

Very much attached: my other half has outlasted several of my careers added together. We live in north London with no kids and no pets: our book and CD collections are quite enough responsibility for my liking...

Contents (Warning, may contain nuts):
In this journal, you are likely to find a fair amount of whining, sarcasm and bitching (but hardly ever about anyone who is likely to read it, and never using real names). There will be sporadic updates on the joys of work (to be read as ironic, if you please) and what event I recently attended, activity I recently undertook or media product I recently consumed (especially books and films). There will be only limited reference to news and current affairs. I figure the people who want that will look at actual news sites, or at pages belonging to people who do it better, so I tend only to post about the more obscure news stuff that people may not have seen. If you're not interested in any of this, there are several million other journals out there - happy hunting!

Friends and acquaintances
I keep the great majority of this journal open, and only have very personal stuff friends-locked. So, if you're not on my friends list, you won't see the (rare) snippets of seriously juicy gossip but will at least be spared too much of the standard LJ 'poor-me', hug-trawling crap. If, for any bizarre reason, you find any of this interesting, you're welcome to friend me, and if you do I will most likely read you and comment. I generally only friend people back if I know them pretty well IRL or from a decent length of time in a community, for the reasons mentioned above. No offence is intended, 'kay?
